U zhvillua mbrëmjen e së dielës në Londër ceremonia e ndarjes së çmimeve MTV European Music Awards. Shawn Mendes rrëmbeu tre çmime, ndërsa këngëtarja me origjinë shqiptare Dua Lipa mori çmimin Best New. Mes repistëve që pretendonin dhe ia dolën me sukses të merrnin një trofe ishin Kendrick Lamar dhe Eminem, ndërkohë që garonin DJ Khaled, Kyle, Drake dhe Future and Post Malone.
Edhe pse është një ceremoni për vlerësimin e muzikës europiane, në të u përfshinë gjithashtu edhe shumë prodhime amerikane.
Shfaqja u prezantua nga këngëtarja britanike me origjinë shqiptare, Rita Ora (Sahatçiu), e cila befasoi me atë dalje me rrobëdeshambër në tapetin e kuq, por edhe gjatë prezantimit.
